Osun REC Babalola Commits to Fair August 15 Poll

Oluwatoyin Babalola, the newly deployed Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) for Osun State, has committed to conducting a fair and credible governorship election scheduled for August 15. During a visit to the Correspondents' Chapel in Osogbo on Tuesday, Babalola provided updates on the ongoing voter registration exercise, revealing that 381,817 new voters have been registered in the state.

She urged citizens to refrain from electoral malpractices, including vote trading, and emphasized the importance of a transparent electoral process. Babalola noted that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has received a total of 499,809 applications, which include updates and reviews of lost or damaged Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs).

She also highlighted that 1,865 PVCs have been collected in the devolved registration area, which includes 50,747 voter transfers. Babalola reassured the public of INEC's determination to deliver an election that reflects the will of the people of Osun State.
