Usman Jibrin Becomes New Yobe State Police Commissioner

On April 9, 2026, Usman Jibrin officially took over as the 34th Commissioner of Police for Yobe State, succeeding Emmanuel Ado, who was recently elevated to a higher position within the Nigeria Police Force. The announcement was made by Dungu Abdulkarim from the Yobe State Police Command.

Jibrin, hailing from the Illela Local Government Area in Sokoto State, holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Political Science from Bayero University Kano (1991) and a Master’s degree in Public Administration from Enugu State University of Science and Technology (2016). He joined the Nigeria Police Force in 1994 as a Cadet Assistant Superintendent of Police and has accumulated 30 years of experience in various operational, investigative, and administrative roles.

His previous positions include Division Crime Officer, Deputy Commissioner of Police in several states, and head of the Welfare Force at the Police Headquarters in Abuja. Jibrin has committed to professional policing, protecting lives and property, and fostering collaboration with community security stakeholders.
