NFF Congress Approves Statute Amendments for 2026 Elections

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) Congress convened in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State, where it unanimously approved sweeping reforms to its governance framework, including amendments to its statutes and electoral processes in preparation for the 2026 elections. The Congress endorsed the establishment of an electoral committee and an appeal committee, comprising 12 individuals selected from Nigeria's six geopolitical zones.

Notable members include Matthew Burkala, Emmanuel Dada, and Alhaji Babagoni Grema, among others. The committees will be inaugurated in Abuja on March 25, 2026.

Additionally, Ernst & Young (EY) was appointed as the new independent auditor for a four-year term, following a rigorous selection process that involved seven firms, succeeding PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC), which served for nine years. The next NFF electoral congress is scheduled for September 26, 2026, in Lafia, Nasarawa State.

The Congress expressed confidence in the NFF Executive Committee led by President Ibrahim Musa Gusau for promoting football development across Nigeria.
