NFF Elective Congress Scheduled for September 2026

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has confirmed that its next elective congress will take place on September 26, 2026, in Lafia, Nasarawa. This date was established following a unanimous decision by the NFF's extraordinary general assembly.

The assembly also marked the formal commencement of the federation's electoral cycle, which is expected to influence the leadership direction of Nigerian football for the next four years. Delegates endorsed proposals from the NFF executive committee, led by President Ibrahim Gusau, which included broader institutional reforms and amendments to the NFF statutes.

An electoral code was approved, laying the groundwork for a credible electoral process. A 12-member electoral committee, along with an appeal committee, will be inaugurated in Abuja on Wednesday.

This committee will oversee the election of twelve nominated individuals from Nigeria's six geopolitical zones. The assembly also observed a moment of silence in honor of former Super Eagles coach Chief Adegboy Onigbind and ex-national team captain Henri Nwosu.
