NFF Congress Approves Statute Changes and Committees

On March 23, 2026, the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) Congress convened in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State, where significant amendments to the NFF statutes were unanimously approved. The congress, held at the DSP Alamieyeseigha Banquet Hall, began with a moment of silence to honor former technical director Adegboyega Onigbinde and ex-Nigeria captain Henri Nwosu.

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu was commended for his support of football, and the presence of various stakeholders, including Shehu Dikko, the National Sports Commission Chairman, and Bukola Olopade, the Director General, was acknowledged. The congress established a 12-member NFF Electoral Committee and an Electoral Appeal Committee, with members drawn from six geopolitical zones, set to be inaugurated in Abuja on Wednesday.

Ernst & Young was appointed as the new independent auditor for a four-year term following a competitive selection process, succeeding PricewaterhouseCoopers after nine years. The next NFF electoral congress is scheduled for September 26, 2026, in Lafia, Nasarawa State.
