FIFA Proposes $20M Funding for Member Associations

FIFA announced a new funding proposal on Tuesday that could allocate up to $20 million to each of its 211 member associations, including the Nigeria Football Federation, as part of the FIFA Fast Forward Programme (FFFP). This funding aims to boost investment in global football development.

The proposal includes an optional one-off $20 million for special projects and increased regular development allocations under the FIFA Forward programme, raising the funding from the current $8 million to $20 million for the 2027-2030 cycle, $22 million for 2031-2034, and $24 million for 2035-2038. In return, FIFA will maintain sole control over the FIFA Forward Enterprise (FFE) and all football governance decisions.

FIFA plans to sell a minority stake in its commercial operations, a move criticized by UEFA. FIFA President Gianni Infantino stated that the initiative aims to ensure that the commercial growth of football benefits all member associations, reinforcing the sport's role in social development.
