NFF Postpones 2026 Elective Congress to September 27

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has announced a postponement of its 2026 Elective Congress, originally set for Saturday, September 26, 2026, in Lafia, Nasarawa State, to Sunday, September 27, 2026. This decision was made during an extraordinary general assembly held virtually on Wednesday, where NFF President Alhaji Ibrahim Musa Gusau MON explained that the change was necessary due to the Super Eagles' opening qualifying match for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations against Madagascar’s Barea, scheduled for Friday, September 25, 2026.

The timing of the match would make it difficult for several candidates to arrive in Lafia in time for the congress. The NFF Executive Committee convened the extraordinary general assembly to propose the new date, which was subsequently moved by a member of the Congress and seconded, finalizing the change.
