NSC Suspends NFF Elective Congress Amid Resignations

The National Sports Commission (NSC) has suspended the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) elective congress that was set to occur in Lafia, Nasarawa State on September 27, 2026. This decision follows the resignations of several top officials within the NFF, including President Ibrahim Gusau, who announced his resignation during a press conference in Abuja.

Additionally, General Secretary Mohammed Sanusi and other members of the Executive Committee have also resigned. The NSC stated that a new electoral process will commence after comprehensive reforms are conducted in consultation with the Federation of International Football Association (FIFA) and the Confederation of African Football (CAF).

In the interim, Emmanuel Ikpeme has been appointed as the General Secretary, while Ademola Olajire will serve as the Deputy Secretary General.
