NFF Supports Chukwu, Rufai’s Families for Funeral Rites of the Two Legends

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has provided financial support for the final funeral rites of former Nigeria captain Christian Chukwu and Prince Peter "Dodo" Mayana Rufai. Chukwu, who captained Nigeria to its first Africa Cup of Nations victory 45 years ago, passed away in Enugu on April 12th and was interred in his hometown of Obe on Saturday.

The NFF organized a celebration that included a novelty match in Enugu to honor Chukwu's illustrious life as a player and coach. NFF Chairman of the Nigeria National League, Chief George Aluo, praised Chukwu's dedication to Nigerian sport and exceptional leadership qualities.

Rufai, a flamboyant goalkeeper who represented Nigeria in the FIFA World Cup, was also honored by the NFF with a funeral mass in Festac Town. The NFF delegation, led by Aluo, pledged to ensure the welfare of former players and collaborate with the government to immortalize the legacies.
