AbdulRazaq Elected FORAF President, Advocates for Africa

AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, the Governor of Kwara State and Chair of the Nigeria Governors' Forum, was elected President of the Forum of African Regions (FORAF) on Monday during the UCLG World Congress held in Tangier, Morocco. Alongside him, four vice presidents were elected from different regions: Ousman Oumar from Central Africa (Cameroon), Mbarka Bouaida from North Africa (Morocco), Peter Anyang Nyong'o from East Africa (Kenya), and Panyaza Lesufi from Southern Africa (Gauteng).

AbdulRazaq emphasized the need for improved synergy among African nations and subnational governments to foster sustainable growth and development. He noted the historical challenges posed by geographical constraints to economic integration in Africa but expressed optimism that visionary leadership and strategic investments could help overcome these barriers.

He called for collective action to strengthen partnerships among cities in the region, enhance trade, and promote innovation for inclusive growth.
