NGO Advocates for Inclusion of Disabled Children in Schools

An NGO has advocated for the integration of physically challenged children into the school curriculum within the Federal Capital Territory (FCT). During a visit to a school for blind children in Jabi, Abuja, Pastor Oghenerukevw Lucki expressed concerns about the neglect faced by individuals with physical challenges.

He emphasized the need for support beyond basic necessities, highlighting the importance of empowering children with moral and civic knowledge for their future development. The project aims to equip these children with the necessary skills to navigate life successfully.

The NGO plans to collaborate with schools to implement activities such as lectures, oral quizzes, and rewards for outstanding pupils, including scholarships and gifts. Mr.

Osai, the vice head teacher, appreciated the NGO's intervention and urged students to actively participate in the program. Chikezi Allwel Chinkata criticized parents for imposing career choices on their children without considering their natural talents and abilities, advising that moral and civic education should be prioritized for children's success.
