NGX Extends Trading Hours to 4 PM Starting April 2026

The Nigerian Exchange (NGX) has announced an extension of its trading hours, which will now see the market close at 4 PM, a significant change from the previous closing time of 2:30 PM. This new schedule, which took effect on Monday, April 27, 2026, introduces a daily trading window that starts at 9 AM and lasts until 4 PM, adding three additional hours to the trading session.

The NGX confirmed this change in a statement, emphasizing that the adjustment is a response to align with market opportunities and enhance liquidity. The Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) had earlier approved this extension in April, aiming to boost price discovery and provide investors with greater flexibility to respond to market developments throughout the day.
