NGX Market Wrap 27 Oct 2026 | ASI gains 0.24%

The Nigerian Exchange closed modestly positive on Tuesday, with the All-Share Index gaining 0.24% to settle at 250,941.36 points. Market breadth favoured gainers, though significant losses in select blue-chip stocks offset broader sentiment.

The NGX delivered a cautious positive close on 2026-10-27, with the All-Share Index advancing 60.36 points or 0.24% to 250,941.36 points. While the gain appears modest, the underlying market dynamics reveal a session split between sectoral strength and selective profit-taking in heavyweight stocks.

Market activity remained robust, with 32,756 deals executed and total turnover reaching ₦433.58 billion across 5.17 billion shares traded. This suggests active participation despite the narrow index movement, indicating investors remained engaged despite mixed directional signals.

The gainers list was led by TAJSUKS1, which surged 11.90% (₦10.00) to ₦94.00, followed by UPDCREIT's 10.00% jump (₦1.75) to ₦19.25 and HONYFLOUR's 9.41% climb (₦1.85) to ₦21.50. HONYFLOUR's strength was notable given its 29.82 million shares traded, suggesting institutional interest in the stock. NAHCO added 8.00% (₦11.20) to ₦151.20, indicating renewed appetite in the transport/logistics sector.

Conversely, blue-chip stocks faced headwinds. PRESCO declined 10.00% (₦204.50) to ₦1,840.80, while TRANSCORP lost 9.70% (₦3.50) to ₦32.60. FIRSTHOLDCO dominated volume with 4.86 billion shares traded despite marginal price movement, suggesting institutional repositioning.

Market capitalisation stood at ₦162.93 trillion, reflecting the index's resilience. The session demonstrates a market navigating between sector rotation and profit-taking in large-cap names.

Investors should monitor whether tomorrow's session builds on gainers' momentum or sees mean reversion in the oversold blue-chips.
