NHIA Expands Maternal Health Program to Include Neonatal Care in Kano State

The National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA) has expanded its maternal health program to include neonatal care in Kano State. The Comprehensive Emergency Obstetric Neonatal Care (CEmONC) pilot phase was launched at Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital (AKTH) in collaboration with the Kano State Ministry of Health.

The initiative aims to improve maternal and neonatal healthcare outcomes, with the NHIA providing emergency obstetric services to thousands of women nationwide. Kano State Commissioner of Health, Dr.

Abubakar Labaran Yusif, commended the NHIA for selecting the state for the pilot phase and pledged government support. The AKTH hospital management expressed gratitude for the program, emphasizing its transformative impact on maternal health in the state.
