NHRC Calls for Stronger Stakeholder Collaboration

The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) has urged for enhanced collaboration with stakeholders to improve the implementation of its human rights mandate. This appeal was made during a consultative session on the mid-term review of the NHRC’s Strategic Plan (2024–2027) at its headquarters in Abuja.

Executive Secretary Dr. Tony Ojukwu, represented by Aisha Kaltungo, highlighted the significance of stakeholder contributions in assessing progress and identifying challenges.

The Strategic Plan serves as a roadmap for strengthening institutional capacity and improving service delivery, particularly for vulnerable groups. The review, presented by Halima Oyedele, assessed the Commission's performance against 160 validated indicators and revealed substantial progress, with 90,627 implementation outputs recorded in the first half of the four-year program.

The review also identified areas needing attention, including implementation mechanisms and resource utilization, to enhance the Commission's effectiveness in promoting and protecting human rights in Nigeria.
