NIBSS Launches Quarterly Journal on Digital Payments

On August 28, 2023, the Nigeria Inter-Bank Settlement System Plc (NIBSS) launched "NIBSS Digest," a quarterly digital journal intended to foster industry discussions regarding the future of payments and financial services in Nigeria and beyond. The first edition, themed “Redefining the Future of Payments,” explores technologies, policies, and innovations that are transforming the digital payments landscape.

Adewunmi Oshilaja, Head of Corporate Communications at NIBSS, stated that the publication aims to broaden conversations about the role of payment systems in economic development. The journal will serve as a platform for regulators, financial institutions, fintech companies, and other stakeholders to exchange insights.

Key topics in the inaugural edition include financial inclusion, operational resilience, customer experience, artificial intelligence, and cross-border integration. NIBSS's National Payment Stack, which has processed 26.55 million transactions worth ₦1.4 trillion as of August 2026, is also discussed, emphasizing the need for secure and interoperable payment infrastructure.
