NIDCOM Calls for Unity at Muslim Diaspora Forum in Türkiye

At the first Muslim Diaspora Forum in Ankara, Türkiye, Hon. Abike Dabiri-Erewa, the Chairman/CEO of the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NIDCOM), advocated for greater unity and cooperation among Muslim Diaspora communities. The forum, themed “From Roots to Routes,” was attended by ministers and representatives from over 47 countries and opened by Türkiye's Vice President, Cevdet Yılmaz.

In her presentation titled “Unity in the Diaspora: Current Needs, Common Solutions,” Dabiri-Erewa stressed that diaspora engagement should extend beyond remittances to include knowledge transfer, investment, and humanitarian efforts. She identified key areas for collaboration, such as public communication and joint action against discrimination.

Dabiri-Erewa also met with various diaspora leaders, including Fuad Muradov from Azerbaijan and Sayed Ahmed from Sudan, to discuss cooperation in diaspora affairs. She emphasized the need to maintain connections between migrants and their countries of origin and to enhance Nigeria's international cooperation on diaspora issues.
