NiDCOM Rescues Nigerian Woman from Trafficking in Egypt

The Nigerian Diaspora Commission (NiDCOM) successfully rescued Nigerian woman Busola Alal from human trafficking in Egypt. Alal arrived in Lagos on Wednesday, April 22, 2026, after being subjected to harsh working conditions as a domestic worker in Cairo.

She reported excessive working hours, often starting at 9:00 AM and continuing until 4:00 AM the following day without rest. Alal explained that she had sought opportunities abroad after her small frozen food business collapsed, but instead faced exploitation.

NiDCOM facilitated her return, with the intervention of Olufunsho Amosun, the former Ogun State Governor, who responded to pleas for assistance. The commission reiterated warnings against irregular migration and unverified job offers abroad, urging Nigerians, especially young women, to seek proper guidance and verify employment opportunities through official channels.

Alal expressed her gratitude for the support she received and cautioned others about the risks of seeking work abroad.
