Gunmen Attack in Niger State: One Killed, Church and Police Station Set Ablaze

Gunmen suspected to be bandits carried out a deadly attack in Agwara, Niger State, killing one person, abducting five individuals, and setting a church and police station on fire. The repeated attacks in the area have left residents vulnerable and exposed due to the lack of permanent military presence.

Various stakeholders, including Emir Murtala Dantoro and Rev. Bulu Yohanna Sunday, have called on the federal government and security agencies to establish a permanent military formation in Agwara to restore confidence among residents and enable displaced persons to return home safely.

The ongoing security challenges in Niger State, characterized by banditry and violent attacks, have created a humanitarian and economic crisis in the region, with residents living in fear and insecurity.
