Niger Delta Stakeholders Demand Forensic Probe of NDDC

Stakeholders from the Niger Delta, represented by the Niger Delta Integrated Democracy Network (NDIDN), have called for a forensic investigation into the financial management of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC). The group alleges that the NDDC, under the management of Dr. Samuel Ogbuku, has been mismanaged and is linked to former Bayelsa Governor Timipre Sylva, who is reportedly involved in an alleged coup plot against President Bola Tinubu.

The NDIDN, through a statement signed by Comrade Franci Edaf, highlighted concerns over the NDDC's failure to address environmental pollution and youth unemployment despite significant funding. They noted that suspicious financial transactions, including a claim of 45 billion naira related to the alleged coup financing, should be investigated by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and the Nigeria Financial Intelligence Unit (NFIU).

The stakeholders emphasized the need for a comprehensive forensic audit to ensure accountability and protect public resources in the Niger Delta.
