Nigeria Boosts Indigenous Medicine with NNMDA Support

On Tuesday, Nigeria's efforts to commercialize indigenous medicines received significant support from leading pharmaceutical companies, who pledged their backing to the National Agency for the Development of Indigenous Medicines (NNMDA). Lateefat Ibrahim, the Minister of Innovation, Science and Technology, assured the agency of the Federal Government's commitment to bringing locally developed herbal products to market.

This assurance was made during the Minister's working visit to the NNMDA headquarters in Lagos, where she witnessed the unveiling of seven newly developed herbal products. The visit also included strategic discussions with industry leaders and the Consul General of India in Lagos, focusing on advancing Nigeria's natural medicine sector.

The Director-General and Chief Executive Officer of NNMDA described the event as a milestone in Nigeria's quest to leverage indigenous knowledge for healthcare delivery and economic development.
