Nigeria and Mexico Celebrate 50 Years of Diplomatic Ties

Nigeria and Mexico are celebrating the 50th anniversary of their diplomatic relations, which were established on April 14, 1976. The Nigerian Minister of Foreign Affairs announced this milestone, highlighting a partnership built on respect for sovereignty and non-interference.

Over the past five decades, both countries have committed to global peace and stability through a mutually beneficial partnership. They have coordinated closely within the United Nations and expanded cooperation in trade, investment, energy, agriculture, education, culture, and technical exchanges.

Recent efforts have focused on economic diplomacy and engaging the private sector to diversify trade and explore emerging areas such as renewable energy. The Nigerian government acknowledged the importance of dialogue and institutional cooperation to consolidate the relationship, reflecting shared goals of inclusive growth and sustainable development.

The Nigerian Minister reaffirmed the commitment to deeper high-level engagement and strategic cooperation, expressing confidence in achieving even greater dividends in the future.
