Biodun Otunola Becomes Mexico's First Honorary Consul in Nigeria

Biodun Otunola has made history by becoming Mexico's first honorary consul in Nigeria, a significant diplomatic milestone for both nations. The appointment was officially marked in Lagos, Nigeria's commercial capital, during an inauguration ceremony attended by members of the diplomatic corps, senior government officials, and business leaders, including Mexico's Ambassador to Nigeria, Alfredo Miranda, and Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu.

Miranda emphasized the importance of Otunola's role in enhancing bilateral engagement between Mexico and Nigeria. Otunola, who is the managing director of Planet Project Limited, holds a civil engineering degree from Obafemi Awolowo University and a master's degree from Chalmers University of Technology.

He has led landmark infrastructure projects, including the Oshodi Transport Interchange, the largest bus terminal in Africa. The appointment is expected to foster economic dialogue and partnerships, with Otunola expressing commitment to leveraging opportunities for mutual growth over the next five to ten years.
