Nigeria Evacuates Citizens from Iran Amid Ongoing Conflict

The Nigerian government has initiated the evacuation of its citizens from Iran due to the ongoing conflict in the region. Abike Dabiri-Erewa, the Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian Diaspora Commission (NIDCOM), announced on Wednesday that Nigerian officials will accompany citizens as they leave Iran, providing safe escort across the Armenian border.

The evacuation comes as the war continues, with no Nigerian casualties reported thus far. Officials are stationed at the border to receive citizens fleeing the conflict.

The situation in Iran has escalated, with reports indicating that over 1,300 people have been killed and 12,000 injured due to the ongoing hostilities. The conflict has also displaced many individuals, with significant casualties reported among civilians and healthcare workers.

The Nigerian government is taking proactive measures to ensure the safety of its citizens in the region.
