Nigeria Advocates for Global Investment in Women at UN

During the 70th session of the United Nations Commission on the Status of Women held in New York City, Nigeria's Federal Minister of Women Affairs and Social Development, Imaan Sulaiman Ibrahim, called for global investment in women. The event, themed "31 Years Progress, Resilience, Impact, Renewed Hope," gathered global leaders, policymakers, and stakeholders to discuss gender equality and women's empowerment.

Ibrahim outlined a six-point call to action aimed at reaching women across Nigeria's 774 local government areas, focusing on initiatives in energy access, agriculture, digital inclusion, health protection, creative innovation, and leadership education. She emphasized the urgent need for increased funding and collaboration among government, development partners, and civil society organizations to transform women's lives.

The event featured high-level engagements, cultural displays, and discussions on women's roles in governance and economic leadership, with notable attendees including UN Deputy Secretary-General Amina J. Mohammed and various Nigerian diaspora representatives.
