Nigeria Targets Women's Empowerment at UN CSW70

At the 70th session of the United Nations Commission on the Status of Women (CSW70) held in New York, Imaan Sulaiman Ibrahim, the Minister of Women Affairs, disclosed the Nigerian government's commitment to advancing women's empowerment and digital inclusion. The event, organized by the Federal Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development, brought together global leaders, diplomats, and gender advocates to discuss strategies for enhancing women's economic participation and strengthening family resilience.

Ibrahim highlighted the government's comprehensive strategy, known as the "Renew Hope" initiative, which aims to reach women across Nigeria's 774 local government areas through programs focusing on energy access, agriculture, digital inclusion, and healthcare. She emphasized the need for sustained investment and strong partnerships to transform women's lives.

The event featured discussions on major challenges facing women and girls in Africa and included a performance by Nigerian artist Laolu Senbanjo, who used art to challenge stereotypes and inspire social change.
