Omokri: Nigeria Needs State Police to Secure Schools

Reno Omokri, a former presidential aide, declared that Nigeria cannot effectively secure its 300,000 schools without the implementation of state police. In a Facebook post, he argued that the country's security agencies lack the manpower necessary to protect schools across the nation.

Omokri pointed out that Nigeria's military, consisting of approximately 230,000 active personnel, is insufficient to guard the distinct units of schools nationwide. He criticized the current federal approach, stating that without state police, it is impossible to ensure the safety of schools.

Omokri also mentioned the challenges posed by Nigeria's porous borders and the overstretched Nigerian Police Force, which is already burdened with protecting the civilian population. He urged for a reconsideration of security strategies to address the recurring problem of school abductions, emphasizing the need for a decentralized police force to enhance security measures.
