Nigeria Expands AI Training to 15 New Institutions

On September 15, Nigeria announced an expansion of its technology training program to include 15 additional tertiary institutions across 15 states, as part of a broader initiative to enhance education in artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, robotics, and software development. This announcement was made during the commissioning of the TETFund/Renewed Hope Initiative ICT Experience Centre at Kwara State University, which is already a confirmed host from an earlier pilot program covering the country’s six geopolitical zones.

The 15 states involved in this expansion are Adamawa, Bayelsa, Borno, Delta, Edo, Enugu, Imo, Katsina, Nasarawa, Niger, Ondo, Osun, Rivers, Yobe, and Zamfara. However, details regarding specific courses and enrolment for prospective learners remain pending, and the announcement did not clarify access for graduates or applicants from other institutions.
