Nigeria and Liberia Strengthen Economic Cooperation

On July 8, 2026, Nigerian Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Sola Enikanolaiy, met with Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Liberia, Ambassador Ethel Davi, in Abuja. The meeting focused on enhancing Nigeria-Liberia relations, which are founded on shared history and mutual respect.

Enikanolaiy emphasized Nigeria's commitment to strengthening bilateral ties, particularly in political consultation, trade, investment, and youth development. He acknowledged Nigeria's significant role in restoring peace and stability in Liberia and reiterated support for Liberia's post-conflict reconstruction efforts.

Ambassador Davi expressed Liberia's desire for deeper economic cooperation and encouraged Nigerian investors to participate in Liberia's development. She also mentioned an upcoming investment summit in Lagos aimed at fostering business partnerships.

Both officials recognized youth unemployment as a major challenge and called for stronger collaboration with the Nigerian private sector to create job opportunities. The discussions aimed to promote regional prosperity and enhance cooperation within the ECOWAS framework.
