Nigerian Military Dismisses Terror Threat in FCT

The Defence Headquarters (DHQ) of Nigeria, represented by Major General Michael Onoja, has refuted claims regarding the presence of terrorists in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT). During a press briefing in Abuja, he emphasized that security agencies remain vigilant and are actively neutralizing criminal threats.

Over the past month, military operations have successfully neutralized 201 terrorists and rescued 188 abducted civilians, including women, children, and the elderly, across multiple states such as Adamawa, Borno, Gombe, Taraba, Yobe, Kaduna, Katsina, Kebbi, Sokoto, and Zamfara. The military has also arrested 284 individuals linked to terrorist activities and dismantled several terrorist camps.

Despite viral videos threatening mass executions of abducted Nigerians, the military assured that decisive actions are underway to ensure safety in the FCT. The operations have included coordinated ambushes and kinetic strikes against insurgents, significantly curtailing their movements and restoring safety to affected communities.
