Nigeria Excluded from Mixed 4x100m Relay in Budapest

Nigeria's entry into the mixed 4x100m relay at the inaugural World Athletics Ultimate Championship in Budapest was compromised as the country was ruled out despite having secured automatic qualification through its performance at the World Athletics Relays in Botswana. The omission occurred because Nigeria's entry was not confirmed during the final registration process, resulting in the team missing one of the opening-day events of the three-day championship.

Visa-related challenges involving key athletes, including Miracle Ezechukwu and Rosemary Nwankwo, contributed to this disruption, preventing the completion of the necessary registration. This setback is particularly disappointing for Nigeria, as qualification had already been achieved on the track.

Consequently, the Nigerian contingent will now rely on individual athletes, such as world champion Tobi Amusan and 400m competitor Ella Onojuvwevwo, to represent the country, with Onojuvwevwo scheduled to compete in the women's 400m semi-final.
