Gospel Singer Kolawole Okanlawon Passes Away Unexpectedly

The Nigerian gospel music community is in mourning following the sudden death of Kolawole Okanlawon, a choir master at CCC Winners Parish. His death was confirmed by fellow gospel singer Esther Igbekele in an Instagram post on October 5.

Igbekele expressed her deep sorrow, describing the news as a “rude shock” and recalling their recent time together during her trip to the United Kingdom, which made his passing even more difficult to accept. In her tribute, she reflected on the unpredictability of life and emphasized that Okanlawon would be greatly missed by the Esther Igbekele Music Organisation and all who knew him.

While the cause of his death has not been disclosed, Igbekele prayed for comfort for Okanlawon’s family and friends. The emotional impact of his loss has resonated throughout the gospel music community, as many share their condolences and memories.
