Pastor Deacon Steve Eyo Dies During Funeral Sermon

On October 2, during a funeral service in Aleto, Eleme Local Government Area, Deacon Steve Eyo, the Resident Pastor of RCCG, collapsed and died while preaching a sermon titled "The Certainty of Death and Hope Beyond." Eyo began his address at approximately 1:10 p.m. to over 300 mourners, using relatable imagery to discuss the unpredictability of life and death. Around 1:25 p.m., just 15 minutes into his sermon, he collapsed as he was concluding his message.

Initially, some attendees thought his fall was a dramatic illustration of his topic, but it soon became clear that he was in serious distress. Church ministers and attendees rushed to assist him, praying and attempting first aid.

Eyo was taken to a nearby medical facility in the ambulance meant for the deceased, where he was confirmed dead. The cause of death has not been disclosed, leaving the community in shock as they faced the unexpected loss of their pastor.
