Nigeria's Defence Minister Urges Proactive Security Measures

On Thursday, in Abuja, General Christopher Musa (retd), the Minister of Defence, stated that Nigeria must proactively address emerging security threats to secure the nation. Speaking at a policy colloquium titled “Securing the Frontier: Strategic Defence Architecture, Emerging Technologies and Democratic Integrity in Nigeria,” he noted that security challenges span land, maritime, air, and cyber domains.

Musa emphasized the necessity for an integrated defence posture, effective intelligence coordination, and joint operations among the Armed Forces and relevant security institutions. He affirmed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's commitment to enhancing national security and equipping the Armed Forces to safeguard Nigeria's sovereignty and democratic institutions.

Musa also pointed out the critical role of technology in modern defence, urging Nigeria to invest in emerging technologies to maintain operational advantages. He concluded that the colloquium was a timely opportunity to discuss the future of Nigeria's defence and security in light of evolving threats and technological advancements.
