Defence Minister Calls for Tech-Driven Security Strategy

On Thursday, at the 2nd Policy Colloquium 2026 held at the Armed Forces Events and Multipurpose Centre in Asokoro, Abuja, General Christopher Gwabin Musa (Rtd), the Minister of Defence, called for an integrated and technology-driven defence architecture to address Nigeria’s evolving security challenges. He stated that the complexity of contemporary threats necessitates renewed strategic thinking and sustained national commitment.

The colloquium, themed “Securing the Sovereign Frontier: Strategic Defence Architecture, Emerging Technologies and Democratic Integrity in Nigeria,” gathered various stakeholders to discuss national security in a digital age. General Musa affirmed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's administration's commitment to enhancing national security and empowering the Armed Forces.

He pointed out that Nigeria's security landscape is influenced by threats across land, maritime, air, and cyber domains, urging for coordinated efforts among security agencies. He also stressed the need for investment in technological innovation and human capacity development to prepare the Armed Forces for future challenges.
