Nigeria Enhances National Security Strategies at Colloquium

At the 2nd Policy Colloquium 2026 held at the Armed Forces Events and Multipurpose Centre in Abuja, General Musa called for Nigeria to continually reassess its national security capabilities in light of evolving threats. He stated that the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is committed to strengthening national security and enhancing the Armed Forces' capabilities to protect the nation.

Musa identified the strategic domains that Nigeria must safeguard, including land, maritime, air, and cyber, emphasizing the necessity for intelligence coordination and joint operations among the Armed Forces and relevant institutions. He pointed out that technologies such as artificial intelligence, unmanned systems, and cyber capabilities are reshaping military operations.

Additionally, he stressed the importance of developing Nigeria's defense industrial base to sustain technological advancements. Alhaji Mohammed Idris, represented by Lanre Issa Onilu, highlighted the need for national security to encompass the protection of information and cognitive space, addressing the challenges posed by misinformation and the manipulation of public opinion.
