Nigeria Names D’Tigers Squad for 2026 FIBA Qualifiers

The Nigeria Basketball Federation (NBBF) has officially unveiled a 12-man roster for D’Tigers, who will represent Nigeria in the 2026 FIBA Basketball World Cup African qualifiers scheduled for July 2-5, 2026, in Luanda, Angola. This tournament marks a new chapter for Nigerian basketball under head coach David Fizdale, who brings a decade of NBA coaching experience and a proven track record in developing elite talent.

The final roster includes players such as Uchenna Ireogbu, Ikenna Ireogbu, Caleb Agada, and Martin Igbanu, among others. Nigeria will compete in Group C alongside Guinea, Rwanda, and Tunisia, with each game being crucial for the qualification campaign.

NBBF President Engin Ahmadu Musa Kida expressed confidence in the team and welcomed Coach Fizdale, emphasizing the importance of his leadership and modern game understanding. The top teams from the African qualifiers will advance to the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2027.
