Nigeria's Minister Declares Country Not on Brink of Collapse

On Wednesday, during the 81st General Assembly of the Broadcast Organisation of Nigeria held at the Hawthorn Hotel Suite in Abuja, Mohammed Idris, the Minister of Information, firmly rejected claims made by a coalition of civil society organizations that Nigeria is on the brink of collapse. He emphasized that the country remains stable and is on a clear path to recovery and growth.

Idris highlighted the government's commitment to tackling security and economic challenges, citing recent military successes in Zamfara and Niger State against bandits. He noted that Nigeria's foreign reserves have strengthened, and investor confidence is improving due to ongoing reforms.

Idris also addressed the importance of accurate reporting, especially as the country approaches an electoral cycle, urging media organizations to maintain public trust and promote national unity. He reaffirmed the federal government's commitment to supporting a free and responsible media environment and encouraged collaboration between the government and media institutions.
