Nigeria and India Strengthen Bilateral Cooperation Ahead of Summit

Nigeria has committed to strengthening its bilateral cooperation with India, as reaffirmed by Ambassador Dunoma, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, during a meeting with Abhishek Singh, the Indian High Commissioner to Nigeria, on Thursday in Abuja. The Ministry's spokesman, Kimiebi Ebienfa, issued a statement expressing appreciation for the cordial relations between Nigeria and India.

The focus of the cooperation includes enhancing trade, security, and renewable energy, particularly in the manufacturing, agriculture, mining, and renewable energy sectors. Ambassador Dunoma emphasized the importance of increasing Indian investments in Nigeria and strengthening collaboration in counter-terrorism, especially in technology and defense.

Singh briefed Dunoma on preparations for the BRICS Foreign Ministers' meeting scheduled for May 14-15 in New Delhi. The India-Africa Forum Summit is expected to convene African leaders and senior officials later this month, with Nigeria being a key partner in BRICS and a significant stakeholder in Africa's strategic relations with India.
