Nigeria Achieves 13 Months of Zero Aviation Fuel Imports

Nigeria's aviation fuel market has seen a complete transition to domestic supply, with no recorded imports of Aviation Turbine Kerosene (Jet A-1) for 13 months, from June 2025 to June 2026. The Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority's data reveals that local producers have fully replaced imported aviation fuel, marking a significant shift for the industry.

Domestic refinery outputs varied, starting at 1.3 million litres per day in June 2025, peaking at 14 million litres per day in December 2025. The monthly data showed fluctuations, with receipts dropping to 1.6 million litres per day in February 2026 and recovering to 4.3 million litres per day in May 2026 before declining again to 2.5 million litres per day in June 2026.

The overall trend indicates a growing reliance on domestic refineries, which had previously struggled to meet demand due to limited capacity.
