Nigeria's Education Minister Alausa Advances Global Talent Strategy

Jack Acheme Alausa, the Minister of Education, stated that the Federal Ministry of Education is pivotal in Nigeria's national talent-export agenda during the Hire From Nigeria event at the 81st United Nations General Assembly in New York. He emphasized Nigeria's youthful population, English proficiency, cultural adaptability, and digital skills as key assets for engaging in the global outsourcing economy.

Alausa identified challenges such as the gap between training and employer demands, limited work-based learning, and access to international certification. To address these, the ministry is implementing curriculum reforms, enhancing accreditation, and expanding digital training through federal institutions and private providers.

The government’s free Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) program has received over one million applications, supporting 160,000 trainees across 1,200 centers. Alausa also highlighted the importance of preparing youth for an economy influenced by artificial intelligence and advanced technologies, focusing on skills that complement technology.
