Nigeria and Rwanda Strengthen Trade and Tourism Ties

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu of Nigeria met with President Paul Kagame of Rwanda at the Urugwiro Presidential Villa to discuss strengthening bilateral relations. The leaders emphasized the importance of reviving the Joint Permanent Ministerial Commission (JPMC), originally signed in 2021, as a platform for advancing shared objectives.

Nigeria is considering reciprocating Rwanda's 30-day visa-free status for Nigerians. The discussions included memoranda of understanding in areas such as tourism, illicit drug control, and anti-corruption.

Both presidents reaffirmed their commitment to inter-African integration and mutual prosperity. They exchanged ideas on operationalizing the African Continental Free Trade Agreement (AfCFTA).

Additionally, they reiterated support for the establishment of an air cargo corridor with RwandAir to facilitate greater export opportunities for Nigerian businesses across the continent. The meeting is part of ongoing efforts to enhance cooperation between the two nations.
