Nigeria Athletics Team Qualifies for 2027 World Championships

Nigeria's athletics team achieved significant success at the ongoing competition in Gaborone, Botswana, securing more tickets to the 2027 World Championships. The mixed 4x100m quartet, consisting of Ash Obi, Jennifer Chukwuka, Chidera Ezeakor, and Maria Thompson, produced a historic run, clocking 40.24 seconds, which set a new African record.

The mixed 4x400m team, anchored by Chidi Okezi and including Nathaniel Ezekiel, Taiwo Mari, and Kudoro Patience Okon, delivered a season's best time of 3:12.88, ensuring qualification. The women's 4x100m team, despite a costly baton mishap, bounced back to finish with a time of 42.94 seconds, marking Nigeria's fastest performance in this category.

The achievements underline the growing strength of Nigeria's athletics circuit as the country prepares for upcoming international competitions.
