Nigeria Pursues Job and Energy Partnerships with Qatar

Nigeria is actively seeking to strengthen its diplomatic engagement with Qatar to create job opportunities for its citizens and enhance cooperation in the energy sector. On Sunday, Nigeria’s Ambassador to Qatar, Mahmood Yakubu, met with Qatar’s Minister of Labour, Ali bin Saeed bin Samikh Al Marri, to explore new job opportunities for qualified Nigerians in Qatar.

This initiative aligns with Nigeria’s 4D Foreign Policy Doctrine, which emphasizes diaspora engagement as a driver of national development and economic growth. Additionally, Ambassador Yakubu held discussions with a delegation from the Gas Exporting Countries Forum (GECF), led by its Secretary-General, Dr. Philip Mshelbila, a Nigerian.

The talks focused on strengthening collaboration in the global gas sector and expanding mutual interests. The GECF, headquartered in Doha, comprises leading gas-producing countries and promotes cooperation in the natural gas industry.

Nigeria plays a significant leadership role within the organization, with Ekperikpe Ekpo, the Minister of State for Petroleum Resources (Gas), serving as Chairman of the GECF Ministerial Meetings.
