Nigeria Pursues Job and Energy Deals in Qatar

Nigeria is actively pursuing expanded job opportunities for its citizens in Qatar and stronger collaboration in the energy sector following high-level diplomatic engagements in Doha on Sunday. Nigeria’s Ambassador to Qatar, Mahmood Yakubu, conducted separate meetings with Qatari government officials, including Minister of Labour Ali bin Saeed bin Samikh Al Marri.

The discussions centered on creating more employment prospects for Nigerian nationals in Qatar, aligning with Nigeria's “4D Doctrine” of foreign policy, which emphasizes Democracy, Development, Demography, and active Diaspora engagement. Additionally, Ambassador Yakubu hosted a delegation from the Gas Exporting Countries Forum (GECF), led by Secretary-General Dr.

Philip Mshelbila, a Nigerian national. The GECF is headquartered in Doha, and Nigeria’s Minister of State for Petroleum Resources (Gas), Ekperikpe Ekpo, currently serves as Chairman of its ministerial meetings, indicating Nigeria's significant role in the global gas sector.
