Nigeria and Spain Enhance Bilateral Relations in Tourism

Nigeria and Spain are actively seeking to deepen their bilateral relations, with a focus on tourism, trade, and direct air connectivity as key areas for cooperation. Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu, Nigeria’s Ambassador to Spain and former governor of Abia State, highlighted Nigeria's significant tourism potential and the need for stronger cultural exchanges and improved access between the two countries.

He identified the restoration of direct air services as essential for reducing travel time and facilitating movement for tourists, investors, and officials. Ikpeazu stressed that enhancing air connectivity would foster better people-to-people relations and bolster trade and tourism.

He also pointed out that Nigeria's tourism sector must be integrated into a broader economic strategy, linking it to security. The Ambassador noted ongoing collaboration with Spain in naval defense and security personnel capacity building, emphasizing that improved security is crucial for creating a safe environment for tourism and economic activities.
