Nigeria's Ambassador Ikpeazu Aims to Boost Ties with Spain

Mnena Iyorkegh Ikpeazu presented his Letters of Credence to King Felipe VI at the Royal Palace in Madrid, marking the start of his tenure as Nigeria’s Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Spain. At a reception hosted by the Nigerian Embassy in Madrid, Ikpeazu expressed Nigeria's readiness to collaborate with the Spanish Government, businesses, and institutions to explore new opportunities in trade, investment, and economic cooperation.

He identified key areas for bilateral cooperation, including trade, energy, infrastructure, agriculture, education, culture, tourism, security, and people-to-people relations. Ikpeazu called for a review of existing bilateral agreements to align them with current priorities and highlighted the importance of the Bilateral Air Service Agreement for enhancing connectivity.

He also acknowledged the role of the Nigerian community in Spain in strengthening ties and pledged to protect their interests while fostering engagement with the Spanish Government and private sector. Ikpeazu conveyed greetings from President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to King Felipe VI and emphasized a new phase in Nigeria’s diplomatic engagement with Spain.
