Nigeria and Spain Enhance Naval Cooperation with Visit

The visit of the Spanish warship, Bam Furor, to Lagos from April 7 to 12, 2026, marked a significant step in strengthening naval ties between Nigeria and Spain. Rear Admiral A.A.

Mustapha, head of the Western Naval Command, hosted Spanish Ambassador to Nigeria and Benin, Felix Costal Artieda, along with Angel Garcia Estrada, representing the Spanish Navy. The engagement underscored the commitment of both nations to enhance bilateral relations and maritime security collaboration.

Ambassador Artieda highlighted the strong relationship between Spain and Nigeria, particularly within the context of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS). The visit also included discussions on joint exercises aimed at improving operational synergy and interoperability between the two navies.

The interactions concluded with the exchange of souvenirs and a group photograph, reflecting the shared commitment to naval diplomacy and international cooperation in the Gulf of Guinea.
