Nigeria and Sweden Strengthen Trade and Innovation Ties

Nigeria and Sweden are deepening their bilateral relations, focusing on trade, innovation, and regional stability. This commitment was reaffirmed during a high-level meeting held in Abuja between Nigeria's Minister of Foreign Affairs, Yusuf Tuggar, and Sweden's Ambassador to Nigeria, Anna Westerholm.

Ambassador Westerholm expressed Sweden's appreciation for Nigeria's hospitality and highlighted the cordial relationship built on goodwill. Sweden aims to support Nigeria's transition to a green digital economy, particularly in digital infrastructure and technology innovation.

The discussions also touched upon Nigeria's growing influence in the global music scene, especially in Afrobeat, and the potential for collaboration in the creative industry. Sweden recently established a trade office in Lagos, indicating a commitment to expanding trade and investment links with Nigeria, Africa's largest economy.

Both nations acknowledged Nigeria's strategic role in promoting regional stability and cooperation within ECOWAS, emphasizing ongoing engagement to foster peace and sustainable solutions in the Sahel region.
