Nigeria to Host 2028 ECOWAS Youth and Sports Meeting

Nigeria has been awarded the hosting rights for the 2028 ECOWAS Meeting of Experts and Ministers in Charge of Youth and Sports. This announcement was made by the National Sports Commission (NSC) via its X handle on Sunday.

The unanimous decision to grant Nigeria these rights was reached at the conclusion of the ECOWAS Meeting of Ministers held in Dakar, Senegal. Representing the NSC Chairman, Shehu Dikko, Barr.

Musa Amadu, Special Adviser, along with the Chairman’s Technical Assistants, Barr. Uche and Lanre Ogunjobi, formally presented Nigeria’s bid, which received unanimous support from ECOWAS member states.

The hosting of the 2028 meeting is expected to enhance Nigeria’s role in regional sports diplomacy and provide an opportunity to collaborate with ECOWAS member states in promoting youth development, sports cooperation, and regional integration across West Africa.
